Our Heritage & Commitment

How Panbang Got Its Name

The story of Panbang is deeply tied to the rivers that shape it. The name comes from two words:

Pan – the handcrafted bamboo boats once used to cross the Drangme River.
Bang – the launching point for these boats.

These boats helped locals transport goods, travel, and connect remote communities.

Today, Panbang has transformed into an ecotourism hub, where Khenda Adventures continues this river-based legacy through sustainable rafting.

Our Sustainability Commitment

River Preservation

We actively monitor water quality and participate in regular river cleanups. Our "Leave No Trace" policy ensures we protect the pristine waters that are central to Bhutan's ecosystem.

Local Employment

100% of our guides are Bhutanese locals, many from Panbang itself. We provide fair wages, professional training, and career advancement opportunities within the ecotourism sector.

Low-Impact Tourism

Our operations use minimal resources and generate minimal waste. We've eliminated single-use plastics and source food locally to reduce our carbon footprint.

Community Support

We actively contribute to local conservation initiatives and community development projects, including river protection and education programs. Our business model is designed to ensure that tourism benefits the communities who call Panbang home.
